Conditions.

Absence.

Please assist us by notifying the Nursery as soon as possible if your child is to be absent.

Sickness.

Any child suffering from an infectious disease i.e. sickness, diarrhoea, conjunctivitis or doubtful rash must not attend the Nursery. We consider most children taking antibiotics is too ill to attend Nursery for at least 3 days. Should a child become ill at the Nursery, parents will be required to make arrangements for collecting the child as soon as possible.

Medicines will normally only be given to a child that has had them prescribed by their medical practitioner. The documentation of medicines will be recorded on the medication form to be signed by parents and signed by the staff who administered it.

Collection of Child.

For protection of the children, only parents or persons nominated will be allowed to collect the children, unless we are notified.

Meals.

Our own cook provides freshly made meals using fresh meat, fruit and vegetables in our fully equipped kitchen.

A wide variety of menus are on offer and we cater for anyone with special dietary needs. Our children receive a two-course lunch and a substantial hot and cold tea. Fresh fruit and vegetables are offered to the children daily. Juice is served alongside.

Meals are taken in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere with the staff in attendance.

Health Visitor.

A health visitor is available to visit the Nursery between the hours of 9.00am and 4.30p.m. Your child’s assessment checks can take place at the Nursery if you wish. The results of these checks will be relayed back to your family GP. If you wish to discuss any problems with the health visitor, let the Nursery staff know.

Clothing and Personal Belongings.

It is advisable that all clothing is clearly marked with the child’s name, especially footwear, coats and hats. Your child should be provided with a spare set of clothes and a tie bag with your child’s name on it. Articles are left at the Nursery at the owners’ risk.

It is inadvisable to dress your child in expensive clothes for Nursery as we cannot be held responsible if they become accidentally spoiled or damaged during Nursery activities.

Your child should not wear jewellry, bring money, sweets or chewing gum into the Nursery.

Policy on special Educational needs.

Our method of assessing any special educational needs of a child commences the day they first attend Supertots Day Nursery.

The child is allocated to a specific member of staff who then becomes responsible for the monitoring and recording of the progress of that child.

Each member of staff is aware of the Department of Education’s code of practice giving guidance and responsibilities towards children with special needs. A copy of this guidance is available for reference from the management on request.

The policy of the Nursery is to continually assess the guidance available from all sources, particularly government departments, and work increasingly towards best practice in this very important area of childcare.

Child Protection.

As a registered provider of day care, Supertots Day Nurseries is required to follow the procedures in accordance with the Local Area Child Protection Committee’s guidelines. We also follow procedures within the Department of Health’s publication:- ‘What to do if you’re worried a child is being abused’.

Special Circumstances.

We are concerned for the happiness of your child. If after a reasonable time it is clear that your child has not settled we may suggest that he or she takes a break from the Nursery and comes back at a later date.

The Nursery reserves the right to remove a child from the Nursery for any breach of regulations.

We reserve the right to take a child to hospital if staff considers it necessary and we have been unable to contact any of the emergency telephone numbers.
