Supertots early years education emphasises teaching the fundamental skills needed to start school; including reading, writing and numeracy.
The emphasis in our pre school is on teaching the fundamental skills that children will need to succeed at school; including early reading, writing and numeracy.
We provide a rich and varied programme of activities including story telling, music and movement classes, and ‘kidz into sport’; promoting a healthy life style.
The pre school nursery room is divided into well defined ‘learning areas’ each equipped with resources that focus on a particular area of learning: These include emergent writing, mathematics, reading, information technology, role play, construction, sand and water.
Each child has a ‘learning journey folder’ in which we record their progress; this enables us to easily share their milestones with you. The early years profile helps us to monitor development and work towards achievement of the early years education goals. You are always very welcome to see your child’s records and discuss them with the staff team. We also hold formal parents’ evenings so that you have an opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and achievements in more detail.
Our aim is to help all the children in our care to approach a major change in their lives – starting school – with the confidence, skills and enthusiasm for learning that will give them a valuable and enduring head start.
Our qualified staff and assistants will welcome your child into a warm and caring environment where your child will be treated as a unique child and have lots of fun through supervised play. Children are offered exciting and interesting activities to develop their all round skills. A wide range of equipment is provided to reflect our multi-cultural society in a positive way.
Each child is allocated a key person. Each key person has special responsibilities for working with a small number of children, giving them the reassurance to feel safe and cared for and building relationships with their parents. The key person will help your child to become familiar with the setting and to feel confident and safe within it. They will talk to parents to make sure that the needs of your child are being met appropriately, and that records of development and progress is shared with parents and other professionals as necessary.
We believe play underpins all development and learning for young children. It is through play that they develop intellectually, creatively, physically, socially and emotionally.
We provide well-planned experiences based on children’s spontaneous play, both indoors and outdoors. In playing, children behave in different ways: sometimes their play will be responsive or boisterous, sometimes they may describe or discuss what they are doing, sometimes they will be quiet and reflective as they play. Whatever the children bring to nursery is an indication of their current interest and we support their needs through careful planning.
